There was a lot of callbacks to Lena for Shin in this episode.
First, they mention the large-scale legion offensive that is coming. This was Shin’s final warning to Lena before they left District 86.
Second, Grethe mentions San Magnolia has not responded to their attempts at communication.
Third, Frederica reminds him of what Lena told him in Episode 2. To think about something he’d like to do or a place he’d like to see.
Fourth, Raiden mentions Lena would regularly call them at night.
I think it’s safe to say he was definitely thinking of her throughout this whole episode.
Just clarifying some things I want to mention:
-At this point it’s almost been 1 full year since Spearhead left San Magnolia.
-Back in Episode 11, the picture Lena has of Spearhead is very blurry due to Fido’s old cam. The Federacy’s new Fido has upgraded to 1080p lol.
-In this Episode, Shin mentioned he submitted a review to Grethe about the Para-raid device. They took the old ones, if Shin is reviewing one, does that mean it’s a new model and they’ll have their Earpieces again ?
-I’m sure you caught it butdidn’t mention it. Grethe mentioned they made contact with 2 other surviving nations. New players? More politics ? More compelling characters being introduced ? The world may never know.
-This 2nd half of the season is adapting Volumes 2&3 / 11 of the LN… readers say this arc is the weakest of them all, and it’s still really damn good. Since the last episode of this season aired in March, I’ve been praying for a Season 2 confirmation :'[ lol
