This is the episode that got me more into the show. Seeing Shin take an interest in Lena’s well-being after it mostly being the opposite is a nice thing to see. The others too seem to start being concerned on how she will feel when given the terrible news.
The music and the emotion came in harder this episode than the others, from Anju crying, to Shin asking for them to be remembered, as they all know they are going to die. They have no family, all their friends will die along with them, they get no graves. Someone carrying their memory and their “heart” will be all that remains. (I believe this is what Kurena meant by “What about Shin? Who will carry his heart” line.)
I don’t think this is ever fully revealed so I’ll say it here, But Raiden, aka Raiden Shuga lol… has hinted that their people have been abused by other 86, for the color of their skin. He mentions Anju has Alba blood. So one of her parents are alba. If you pause and see the letters on her back, you can make out the phrase “WHORE’S DAUGHTER” was carved into her.
Yep, this show is depressing as hell. Should’ve mentioned that when I requested it probably. But I think the story and character arcs really start to pick up after this point, so I can’t wait for you to see the rest >:D
