Legion is pronounced LEE-JUHN , btw lol. Much respect to Aldrecht , the mechanic. He wants to be hated, maybe even wants to die. He wants to go to the other side and see his family but can’t do it himself. So he keeps on doing what he can for Spearhead.
Lena’s face when she’s on the railroad tracks is filled with determination and confidence. That whole ending sequence with her at the barracks is one of my favorite scenes. It’s so melancholic. Don’t forget to pay attention to the dates. She went there on OCT 13th. The last we saw of Spearhead and Fido was on OCT 30th.
After what happened to Fido, the group did seem to move on fairly quickly. Shin definitely seemed a little less animated than he usually is, and that’s saying a lot for him, but they’ve been at this almost 5 years. They’ve probably seen dozens, if not hundreds, maybe even thousands of people die. They probably closed themselves off to it a long time ago. As much as they humanly can at least. Or else how could one stay sane? We’ve seen this before too, After Daiya, and others in the squad die, and they go back to the barracks, we’ve seen a bunch of them quickly head to distractions like playing Darts, or reading, shooting soda cans with their guns.
At the end Lena did not take that head lol. Since the beginning, the head had a cut in the neck. Over the course of the show, the cut has been growing wider and wider, and finally it fell off completely. This episode marked the end of 1st Cour of Season 1 when it was airing, and the end of the 1st Volume of the Novel. Episode 12-23 are Cour 2 which covers Novels 2-3….
I have 2 requests before you get too far ahead. Now that you’ve finished Cour 1 you can watch the first of the “86 – Details you may have missed” videos on Youtube. Can you react to in your next video after your discussion of episode 12? If you’d rather react to the 3 videos at the end of the series like we talked about that’s okay too 🙂
Second request: Can you watch episode 22 and 23 (the final 2 episodes of the season) together? There was a near 3 month delay due to production issues after episode 21, and people went crazy waiting. Naturally, but also narratively, the last 2 go REALLY well together.

Oh, good point about the dates. I tried to pay attention but I somehow always end up being confused by the year and forget to check the actual date before that hehe I definitely didn’t notice there was such a gap. On the one hand, we do know she didn’t make an appearance before the 30th. On the other hand, it makes it very likely she might appear any second now. I’m just hoping it’s not to see them all dead thoughðŸ˜
It’s true that they’re used to their comrades dying. I don’t really think it’s necessarily out of character for them not to react too much, since as you put it so well, they’ve experienced so much death of their comrades by now they had to have grown desensitized to it at least outwardly or else they would go insane. It’s just that we saw in the last episode that sequence with Fido by their side over the years and that’s how we know that Shin found him on the battlefield and they’ve been together since so I guess I just expected to see something in Shin’s reaction to hint on such a long acquaintance. I guess it does make sense that he wouldn’t show it though. Possibly it was just too much for him to feel in the moment and he didn’t have enough time to process any of it so instead he just suppressed.
I totally missed the cut in the neck. I wish I’d noticed it. But it was definitely very symbolic and poignant that we see the head is missing and later we also see Shin’s head supposedly missing and knowing it could have been taken by the Legion. Knowing that all of their heads could have been taken by the Legion.
